8 Benefits of blueberry juice - how to, recipes and tips

Blueberries, which is also known as blueberries or cranberries, which is its English name, is a red and sour fruit that comes from a small shrub, native to North America.

Let's get to know a recipe prepared with fruit - blueberry juice - and tell us what are some of its benefits, in addition to learning how to make the drink?

8 The benefits of blueberry juice

1. Prevention of urinary tract infection

Cranberry is composed of substances called proanthocyanidins. It is believed that they can help prevent this type of infection by preventing the bacteria from binding to the lining of the urinary tract.

However, research into the effects of blueberry juice on urinary tract infection is different. While some have shown that drinking is effective in reducing the risk of developing the disease, others have found that juice treatment is not effective.

Thus, for those who already suffer from a urinary tract infection, we recommend that you continue to follow your doctor's instructions and use the medications that have been given to you.

2. Anti-inflammatory action

Due to the phytonutrients it contains, it is said that blueberry juice can provide an anti-inflammatory effect on the body. This is important because inflammation plays a role in damaging blood vessels over time.

Once they are damaged, the blood vessels attract plaque, which causes atherosclerosis.

3. Antioxidant effect

Cranberry has phytochemicals that act as antioxidants. Antioxidants are important for fighting free radicals, substances that are harmful to the body and are associated with the occurrence of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disorders, in addition to premature aging.

4. Prevention of dental plaque

There is evidence that cranberry juice can help prevent dental plaque from developing in the teeth and causing gingivitis.

Journal of the American Dental Association a reported that blueberries have preliminary promises for the prevention of periodontal disease by preventing oral bacteria from laughing on the teeth.

Periodontal disease can affect the gums to the bone that surrounds and supports the tooth. The condition has three stages: gingivitis (which is the least severe), periodontitis and advanced periodontitis (the most severe).

However, for safety reasons, it is worth keeping in touch with your dentist about this benefit associated with the drink.

5. Digestive health

Blueberry phytonutrients can also benefit the health of our digestive system. The reason is that they can prevent the growth and multiplication of bacteria H. pylori in the lining of the stomach.

What is the use of this? It is the fact that this bacterium can cause gastritis and its growth out of control cannot lead to the formation of ulcers.

6. Heart health

A pilot study presented at a 2003 meeting of the American Chemical Society indicated that drinking cranberry juice helps increase the level of good cholesterol - also known as HDL - that supports heart health.

7. Help with the functioning of the gallbladder

The mineral potassium, which is present in blueberry juice, contributes to the proper functioning of the gallbladder, as it ensures that it can release the bile and facilitates the digestion process in general.

Bile is a fluid produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Its functions relate to the digestion of fats and the absorption of nutrients from food.

8. Helps prevent preeclampsia

The condition is associated with high blood pressure and increased amounts of protein in the urine of pregnant women. When left untreated, preeclampsia can lead to premature labor.

Cranberry juice is a source of vitamin C, a nutrient that may be effective in helping decrease the chance of developing the disease in women at high risk of developing it, according to University of Maryland Medical Center.

  • ½ cup of lemon juice
  • ½ cup of orange juice.

Put the blueberries and water in a kettle and bring to a boil. After that, reduce the heat, cover and cook for 20 minutes or until the grains begin to explode. • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons blueberries (dehydrated)
  • 1 tablespoon biomass of green bananas or blackberry flour
  • 4 spinach leaves.

Preparation method:

Put all the ingredients in the blender Beat everything for two to three minutes. Then serve immediately, without confusing.

Careful: it is important to drink cranberry juice immediately after cooking, as the drink may soon lose its nutritional properties and therefore its benefits. The so-called oxidation process that occurs through heat and exposure to oxygen and light can cause certain nutrients to lose their effectiveness. Therefore, when it is not possible to take the juice when it is done, the suggestion is to keep it in closed, sealed bottles to avoid or delay the process.

Caring for cranberry juice

Cranberry juice is considered safe, however, excessive drinking can cause side effects such as mild stomach upset, diarrhea and high blood sugar. It is recommended to consume less than 1 l of blueberry juice daily.

Intake of more than 1 liter of blueberry juice per day over a long period increases the chance of developing kidney stones. Thus, people who have a history of kidney stones should avoid taking cranberry products or consuming too much fruit juice.

Pregnant women who are breastfeeding their babies are advised not to eat the fruit because there is no reliable information to make it safe in these cases.

Cranberry has significant amounts of salicylic acid, which is a substance similar to that of aspirin. Therefore, for those who suffer from aspirin allergy, it is recommended to avoid taking too much cranberry juice.

The drink can also harm people suffering from inflammation of the stomach lining (as in the case of gastritis) and low stomach acidity (hypochlorhydria). And for people with diabetes, it is recommended to give up cranberry juices filled with sugar and give priority to versions that do not contain sugar or bring sweeteners in smaller portions.

Cranberry may interact with some medicines, such as blood thinners. Therefore, if you use any medicine, talk to your doctor to see if there is a risk of interaction between the fruit and the medicine in question.

And before using juice or fruit to help treat some health conditions, talk to your doctor to see if this is really right for you, given the specifics of your case.

Check With Blackberries And Lemon

1. Preheat the oven to 170C. Wallpaper a cake tray with baking sheet.

2. Using a mixer, mix the sugar and butter in a large bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix until incorporated. Add ricotta, lemon peel, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and vanilla. Sprinkle with flour, then baking powder and salt. Mix until the composition is homogeneous. Add blackberries to the dough. Transfer to cake pan.

3. Bake the cake until it turns golden, and a toothpick stuck in the center comes out clean, about 1 hour. Allow to cool in the pan for 20 minutes. Remove from the pan and allow to cool completely.

4. In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar with a teaspoon of lemon juice. Glaze the cake with this syrup, cut and serve.

Financiers with blueberry and whipped cream mousse

1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
2. Prepare financiers according to the instructions HERE
3. Grease the silicone muffin tins with melted butter or oil.
4. With a posh cut about 1.5cm (thick bag cut at the corner), fill 1/2 of the muffin shape, the rest will be filled with mousse).
5. Bake for about 15-20 minutes. If they are not browned on the edge and the middle is too soft to the touch, leave them for another 5 minutes, depending on how your oven bakes. I don't know if the toothpick test is helpful, probably yes.

1. Beat the abuse hard, add powdered sugar and continue beating a meringue. If it doesn't suit you to bake it just by scalding it with blueberry syrup, then you will beat it with a Swiss meringue, at bain marie. It's good anyway (I explained the procedure to Black Teeth).
2. Soak in 50-100 ml fruit juice or cold water gelatin, for a few minutes, until the procedure of the warm blueberry sauce from step 3 is finished.
3. Put the whole blueberries in a small saucepan with the remaining 50g of sugar, over medium heat. Stir until the sugar melts. When it has melted, turn the heat to maximum, bring to the boil and stop the fire.
4. Drain the gelatin sheets and mix them with the blueberry sauce. Gelatin in an envelope, if you have it, don't untie it in a bain marie, just hydrate it, after you turn off the blueberry fire. Gelatin should not be boiled because it no longer cools.
5. Add the sauce to the meringue and mix with movements from bottom to top with the pear. Allow a few minutes for the egg whites to ripen from the heat of the syrup, if you haven't beaten it in a bain-marie.
6. Lightly beat the cream with a fork, only halfway, being a very greasy cream. The mousse does not have to be aerated to the maximum. Pour it into the meringue mixture and mix well.
7. Financiers cooled put them in muffin paper, which will be placed in the form of silicone and over the counter dosed in the remaining 1/2 space of the form left free, this mousse.
I used a spoon with a hemispherical ice cream portion to make a nice and even mousse over the financiers. You can use a cut posh / bag, as you did with financiers.
8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to thicken the mousse.

After cooling, take them out with the cups on a plate.
Beat the whipped cream with the vanilla sugar and I recommend the whipped cream from the cream I decorate with. Do not use whipped cream. It doesn't taste good.
I formed spirals and tufts with a pos to two medium to small.
I decorated with well drained fruit juice.
TIPS: the juice drained from the fruit, if you have left over from dissolving the gelatin, you mix it in a carafe of lemonade and you will have a fragrant and pink soft drink.

Blackberry wine

I realized that I had made a habit of soaking your mouth without offering you anything to soak your throat. Wanting to correct this mistake, today I offer you a recipe for 100% home made blackberry wine. The recipe for blackberry wine is not from my mother (who doesn't even approve of it, on the grounds that it's too strong: P), but from my father. I also tasted this blackberry wine for the first time. We just liked it, we asked for the recipe and this year we put it into practice.

The downside to this blackberry wine is that it tastes like the best fruit juice, but it tastes like real wine. So moderation is essential. I don't know what that famous wording is like anymore, but it seems to sound like this: recommends the responsible consumption of this preparation, which, however, definitely tastes & # 8222a still & # 8221, as it was said to be forgiven My grandfather.

The prepared amount of fruit and water is put in an enameled pot. Boil for about 30 minutes, after boiling, that is, until the skin of the fruit cracks well. The pot is then removed from the heat and left to cool for 48 hours. Strain the juice, putting the fruits, a few at a time, in the strainer with large holes, pressing a little by hand, so that it drains well.

The pressed fruits are stored in another bowl. The resulting liquid is weighed. To 4 l of liquid, put 1 kg of sugar, mix well until the sugar melts. It is preferable for the sugar to boil for 10 minutes with 1/4 of the liquid, then mix with the rest. By boiling with a sour substance (fruit juice), sugar breaks down into glucose and levulose, simpler sugars that will ferment faster.

The sweetened juice is put in jugs (or barrels), leaving a free space, of 10 cm, up to their mouths, so that the foam that is formed by fermentation takes place. Do not put brewer's yeast will ferment very well only with wild yeasts that are in the air. Damigeana is well covered with a fermentation plug, this, through the tube with which it is provided, allows the carbon dioxide to come out (which is released during fermentation), otherwise by its pressure it will break the vessel.

Damigeana is left motionless for 5-6 weeks, until the fermentation is finished, at a temperature not higher than 18-20 degrees Celsius, during which time all the suspensions are deposited in the form of yeast. The wine is then drawn from the yeast, in jugs or bottles, with the hose, which must not reach the yeast, disturbing it. Place a gauze napkin and a thin layer of cotton wool over the bread, draw the air from the hose until the wine comes out, then quickly pass the hose in the funnel placed in the neck of the bottle or damigene after filling one, quickly move on to the next .

Bottles or bottles are sealed well with new or old sterilized stoppers, for 10 minutes, in boiling water and kept in a cool place. From the pulp of the remaining fruits you can make jam. Pigeons contain a lot of tannin which makes them astringent.

Cranberry juice to prevent premature aging

Cranberry juice is a great natural way to prevent premature aging, as this fruit is rich in antioxidants, which help eliminate excess free radicals that age cells.

So, this juice is an excellent option to cleanse the skin, hair and nails of toxins that cause, over time, an older appearance. In addition to using this juice, you can also consume blueberries in its natural form, either as a dessert or as an accompaniment to salads, during the summer, for example.

In addition, because blackberry is a low-calorie fruit, the juice can be included in weight loss diets, having only 50 calories per cup.

How to prepare

Start by washing the blackberries well and then add them to the blender along with the water. After beating well, sweeten your taste using honey or agave, for example.

This juice can be drunk up to 3 times a day, however, one glass a day is enough to ensure its antioxidant effects.

If you prefer, see how you can use cabbage and other ingredients to prepare different juices against premature aging.

I was recently on a short vacation in the mountains and on my return I bought from the locals a few kilograms of berries for frozen raspberries, blueberries, sea buckthorn, blackberries. They are the only fruits that I keep in this way, not because I would be crazy about their taste, but because they have some clear advantages over other fruits.

Whether we are talking about raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, currants, blueberries or other fruits of this kind, there are some major benefits compared to the classic fruits, which we find all year round in stores (apples, citrus fruits, bananas, etc.). Berries are, in theory, CLEANER AND MORE FEEDING than the "plastic" variants, imported from overseas and countries, cooked on a ship or in warehouses, treated with countless toxic substances.
Another advantage would be that it does NOT gain weight, in fact they are helpful when you want to lose a few kilograms. They have few calories and contain ketones, natural compounds responsible for the specific aroma of berries. These substances stimulate the metabolism and according to researchers have approximately the same action as capsaicin (a natural substance found in hot peppers).
Berries reduce and balance insulin levels in the body after each meal, thus preventing the formation of fat deposits.
Of course, the amount and method of preparation are as important as any other healthy food. If you eat a bowl of blackberries with sugar daily it is unlikely to lose weight. 300-400 grams, however, fresh or in the form of juice or smoothie is a reasonable amount if the goal is weight loss.
Most of all I like to eat berries in the form of juice, made with the help of the Kuvings cold press juicer to which I add other fruits to get a combination to my taste. As I told you before, I prefer cold pressing because it is a way of squeezing after which all the vitamins, enzymes and minerals in the fruit are kept intact.
For my juice I use the following ingredients:
300 g blueberries and blackberries (or blackcurrants) mixed fresh and in winter frozen and left at room temperature to thaw a little
100g melon
2 peaches
1 carrot
Install the juice sieve then wash, clean the ingredients and put them in the juicer one by one. The resulting juice must be drunk immediately or as soon as possible to benefit from its qualities.

Freezing is a very healthy way to preserve food. Properly frozen fruits and vegetables, in the shortest possible time from harvest, largely retain their nutrients and flavors.
Ideally, you should choose healthy, well-ripened and freshly picked fruit. I wash them well under a strong stream of cold water, in a larger strainer (plastic, ideally, so that the more acidic fruits do not react in contact with the metal) then drain the water well. It is not recommended that the fruit stay in the water long, so as not to lose too much of the water-soluble vitamins. After they dry well, I put them in small bags for freezing (one serving / bag) and remove as much air as possible. This type of freezing is suitable for berries: blueberries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, blackberries, currants. They remain intact after thawing and do not fade, they just become softer. In this way, melon cubes can also be frozen
The recommended storage time for this type of freezing is a maximum of 6-8 months, at -18 degrees C. Watermelon retains its qualities by freezing for a maximum of 3 months, at -18 degrees C.
